Seaplane Rating

From Pilots Almanac

Jump to: navigation, search

The term seaplane rating is commonly and incorrectly used to refer to the certificate required of a pilot who intends to operate an airplane that is designed to takeoff and land on water. "Sea" refers to a Class of the airplane Category.

The correct terminology would refer to a private, commercial, or ATP certificate authorizing the pilot to operate a seaplane.
